Cold Colors

Cold colors streak across the landscape

Touching the soil, the water, and the air

With purple-tinted hues which deceive

Us into believing that we are warm and

That we can leap into nature’s arms…

…But the earth is frozen, the sea is frigid,

And the air chills us to the bone…

…Shocking our senses as

The wise, cold colors remind us

To look deeply before we leap.
